Reims, a vibrant city that is increasingly geared towards students!

The city of Reims is mainly renowned for its cathedral, which was the site of the coronations of the kings of France. Of course, the city is also very well-known for Champagne, as it is here that many of the most prestigious wineries have their head offices. Offering its residents a rare quality of life and located just 45 minutes from Paris by high speed train, the city attracts more and more students every year.

LIFE IN REIMS

A city in the north-east of France, in the Champagne-Ardenne region, Reims is the 12th-biggest city in France, one characterised by a prestigious historical heritage recognised by being featured twice on the UNESCO list: the first time for the cathedral, Palais du Tau and former Abbey of Saint-Remi, and the second time for the hillsides, Champagne Houses and Cellars of the Champagne region. Reims is a fantastic place to live, with its many museums, shops, green spaces, restaurants and sports and cultural facilities.

STUDENT LIFE IN REIMS

Obviously, most of the 29,700 students in Reims (14% of the total population) are there for the Champa...ahem, ...are there for the multidisciplinary University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, comprising eight faculties, a University Centre, two University Technology Institutes, a School of Engineering, a Higher Technical Training Institute and a University Teacher Training Institute, as well as for NEOMA, the city's business school. With an ever-increasing student population (up 5% in 10 years), the city established a "Welcome Week" to help make newcomers feel more at home. This includes film club nights and sports events at the start of every academic year.

In terms of leisure activities, there is the city's exceptional heritage, many sports facilities and lively night-life, especially in the Place Drouet d'Erlon (a very popular area with students, with many bars and restaurants). Go and see the memorial to the Battles of the Marne, constructed inside the Château de Dormans!
