OUR UXCO STUDENT RESIDENCES IN AVIGNON

Avignon, the perfect city of culture!

Renowned worldwide for its theatre festival, Avignon is a beautiful city in southern France that attracts large numbers of visitors and students every year. The capital of the Vaucluse and the Côtes-du-Rhône area offers residents a resolutely culture-focused dynamic living environment.

LIFE IN AVIGNON

The 'papal city', a city of art and entertainment with a population of 93,000, is worthy of attention. Famed for its Avignon Festival, an international contemporary performance event, it also boasts fabulous historical heritage (the Palais des Papes, the bridge of Avignon, its city walls classified by UNESCO as a world heritage site, its nine museums, and much more), which gives it a unique charm that you can enjoy with the under-26s Culture Pass. Blessed with sun, scents and flavours, Avignon invites its residents to take the time to live in a typically Provençal environment that is the perfect embodiment of the art of living à la française.

STUDENT LIFE IN AVIGNON

Avignon, which currently has more than 10,000 students enrolled in its 45 higher education establishments, is a centre for dynamic, friendly living. The university is divided into four sections (arts, literature and languages, economics and management law, and IT) and also has a University Technology Institute. Located within the former hôpital Sainte-Marthe hospital, the friendly university, offering courses in art, literature and languages, law, economics and management, and IT, has a family atmosphere that its 7,000 students warmly appreciate. Small yet with much to offer, the city centre is full of bars, restaurants and establishments, some of which are more atypical than others. The unmissable student meeting place, the Place de Pie, is just a few minutes away from our Avignon Express and République student residences. The other advantage to studying in Avignon is that a student public transport pass costs €24 per month or €200 per year, so there’s nothing to stop you exploring every part of the city.

What else is there around Avignon? Whether you're on a short placement or you want to take a break to recharge after a week of exams, the département of Vaucluse offers a wide range of ideas for excursions: the city's historical monuments, discovering the unmissable Avignon Theatre Festival, strolling through the centre of the town of Nîmes, and much more. You could also visit the main towns and villages around the city, many of which are the most beautiful sights in Provence: Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, Boulbon, or l'Abbaye Saint-Michel de Frigolet, to name just three.
